Long Lasting
Pressure treated timber is guaranteed to last for many years to come, you have no need to replace this type of wood frequently, due to its strength and resistance to fungal decay and insect/pest damage.
Protects Against Fungal Decay
Pressure treated wood is anti-corrosion, anti-mildew, anti-mite, anti-termite invasion and it has protective chemicals that saturate the wood. This protective treatment keeps any fungal decay from occurring and life circle last longer.
Save forest resource
Pressure treated wood is natural, environmentally friendly and safe ; because of its longevity, there is reduced strain on the forest as there is less need for deforestation, It means less trees being cut down.
Versatility
Treated wood is easy to paint any color you like. This makes it is easy to match the existing furniture in your home.
Economical
Compare pressure treated wood with other traditional redwood, pressure treated wood price is more affordability, especially for those have tight budget, beside of its durability, you have no need to consider any repair labor charge.
Strong
Pressure treated wood is stronger than any other type of wood, and can withstand much more force. It is able to resist dents, scratches, and wear much better than other woods and lasts for long years.
Low-Maintenance
As previously mentioned, pressure treated wood is impervious to pests, termites, and water, which makes the wood resistant to rot and water damage, and will therefore need significantly less maintenance.
Repair ease
Even when problems like drilling accidents or damage due to the activities of children occur, the repair for pressure-treated wood is quite easy and inexpensive.

Pressure treated wood has also some disadvantages. These drawbacks are as followings:
7 Disadvantages of Pressure Treated Wood

Chemical risks
Due to chemical treatment being processed during manufacturing pressure-treated wood, This type of wood has certain amount of toxic materials in it. When you cut, trim, or burn wood, it is going to release toxic chemicals into the air. These chemicals are not good for your health if you do not get away from them quickly.
Warping and Shrinkage
Pressure treated wood is easy to deform, easy to crack.
The wood has to become saturated with the chemical solution and the wood will take several months to completely dry and cure. There will be some shrinkage and warping of the lumber as it dries.
Fading
Once the chemical is lost, the treated wood color becomes lighter and grayish when being exposed to ultraviolet rays from the sun over time.
Not eco-friendly to environment
Firstly when manufacturing the pressure treated wood, the production process pollutes the environment; secondly, due to the flushing of rainwater, chemical agents will lost in environment and cause some pollution to the surrounding environment.
Uneven color, dull
Since the chemical is infused into the wood, the wood appears as chemical color and glows green. Due to the different amount of infusion of the medicament, the color of the wood is uneven, and the gloss is not smooth;
Not easy to recycle
Since the chemical anti-corrosion wood contains chemical agents harmful to the human body and livestock, the chemical anti-corrosion wood needs special treatment after use, thereby increasing the use cost. In addition, chemical wood preservatives cannot be recycled, thereby wasting wood resources.
Outdoor Use Only
For the most part, all pressure treated lumber must be used outdoors only as some chemical in it.
